Biscuits and Gravy
Biscuits
2 cups flour
1 Tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup soymilk
1/3 cup applesauce
Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Combine all ingredients. Roll out on floured board and cut with biscuit cutter (use shaped cookie cutters if desired). Bake for about 8 minutes. Or, if you are super lazy like me you can just do spoon-drop biscuits and drop a blob of batter on a pan and cook it.
Nutritional Yeast Gravy
3 Tablespoon margarine
1/4 cup nutritional yeast
1/4 cup flour
1 1/2 cup hot water, or better yet - unflavored soymilk
Healthy dash of black pepper
Heat margarine in a saucepan over medium heat. When it is melted, add the nutritional yeast and flour, stirring constantly. Cook this dough for a couple of minutes, then SLOWLY stir in hot water. This should make a creamy sauce. Add pepper and be sure to stir out any lumps.
I lived on this stuff when I was young and broke.
